Hey there! My name is Derek Moore, and currently, I am working as a Simulation Engineer at Pratt Miller.

My background in vehicle dynamics and applied mathematics gives me the ability to see problems from a unique perspective. One of my greatest strengths is the ability to take concepts from theoretical mathematics and implement them in high-quality, user-friendly software applications. I enjoy developing and integrating models, utilizing optimization routines, and performing correlation and validation efforts.

Outside of motorsports, I enjoy developing my fully-automated trading algorithms, running, riding motorcycles, and attempting to keep my E36 on the road.

2018 Formula SAE Michigan (Copy)

This is Tiger __. This car was the first in our team’s history to feature 10” wheels and front/rear wings. It was quite ambitious and led to poor performance at the competition, but ultimately the teamwork and that brought the car together transitioned into the following years where we have done much better.

2019 Formula SAE Michigan (Copy)

Here is Tiger __. This is the second year to feature 10” wheels and a front and rear wing; however, this car was the first where we embarked on a two-year design/build plan, which prompted for more testing/development time and resulted in an 18/102 overall place finish at 2019 FSAE Michigan.
